About Solstice Studio

Solstice Studio is a natural light photography studio located in Houston's Garden Oaks/Oak Forest neighborhood. The 1,200-square-foot studio features 12-foot ceilings, abundant natural light, versatile shooting areas, and thoughtfully curated furnishings designed for photographers, creators, and small businesses.

Whether you're capturing family memories, creating content for your brand, hosting a workshop, or planning a styled shoot, Solstice was created to be a space where creativity can flourish.

Choosing Your Rental Type

Studio Rentals are intended for photography sessions, content creation, branding shoots, headshots, mini sessions, styled shoots, and other creative projects. Each rental includes up to 10 people in the studio at one time. Larger groups are welcome for an additional occupancy fee:

  • 11–16 people: +$100

  • 17–22 people: +$200

Your reserved rental time includes setup, breakdown, and cleanup, so please plan your booking accordingly. All belongings must be removed, and the studio must be returned to its original condition by the end of your reservation.

NOTE: From October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, our drape wall will feature our holiday setup with all ivory drapes (see set up photos and more info below). If you'd like a different drape color or configuration, you're welcome to add the Custom Drape Configuration add-on when booking. Please plan your session accordingly.

Workshop & Gathering Rental is intended for workshops, classes, networking events, baby showers, bridal showers, team meetings, and other small gatherings. Rental time includes setup, event time, breakdown, and cleanup. Maximum occupancy is 22 guests.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

Because studio time is reserved exclusively for you, all reservations are non-refundable and cannot be canceled.

Reservations may be rescheduled up to 24 hours before the reservation start time, subject to studio availability.

Reservations cannot be rescheduled within 24 hours of the reservation start time. No-shows are considered forfeited and are not eligible for refunds, studio credit, or future rescheduling.

Solstice Studio is founded by Joy, the photographer behind SNAPS WITH JOY. If you're looking for a photographer for your session, photography services are available and can be booked separately through SNAPS WITH JOY.

Please Note: If you're booking a photography session with Joy at Solstice Studio, there's no need to reserve the studio separately. Once your session is confirmed, the studio will be booked for you.

2026 Holiday Setup

Available from October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026.

No additional fee — simply book the studio as usual and enjoy the holiday setup!

All drapes will be ivory during these months. If you’d like a different look, you’re welcome to purchase the Custom Drape Configuration add-on.

The Christmas décor can be removed if you prefer a clean studio look. If you’d like to remove or rearrange any of the holiday décor, please allocate a little extra time within your reservation, as you’ll be responsible for setting it up and returning everything to its original arrangement before the end of your booking.

  • Your rental includes access to the studio, furniture and props currently available in the space, WiFi, private restroom, changing area, rolling rack, steamer, and complimentary parking.

  • Yes. Your reservation includes setup, shooting time, and cleanup. Please book enough time to fully set up and return the studio to its original condition before your reservation ends.

  • The studio has a maximum occupancy of 22 people, including vendors, photographers, and guests.

  • Absolutely. Furniture and props may be moved throughout the studio. We simply ask that everything is returned to its original location before you leave.

  • Available drape colors include:

    • Ivory

    • Chocolate Brown

    • Dusty Blue

    • Olive Green

    • Burgundy

    We can install up to 9 drape panels at a time. For the most cohesive appearance, we recommend using at least 3 panels per color.

    The current drape setup can be found in our Instagram Highlights and in the Props carousel above this FAQ section. If you'd like a different configuration than the current setup, simply purchase the Custom Drape Configuration add-on at least 48 hours before your rental.

  • The studio comes with a standard drape arrangement using a pre-selected combination of three colors.

    If you'd like a different look for your session, you can purchase the Custom Drape Configuration add-on for $40 at least 48 hours before your reservation. This allows you to customize the backdrop by changing one or more drape colors or adjusting the number of panels used for each color (for example, using more panels of one color and fewer of another).

    The studio will be set up according to your requested configuration before your reservation begins.

  • Yes! Well-behaved pets are welcome with prior approval.

    A flat $30 pet fee covers up to 3 pets per reservation. Pet owners are responsible for cleanup and any damages caused during their rental.

  • Of course. You're welcome to bring additional props, backdrops, lighting, and equipment to customize your session.

  • Yes. Food and beverages are permitted in the studio.

    Please note that Solstice Studio does not have a kitchen, sink, refrigerator, oven, microwave, or cooking equipment available for guest use. Food must be prepared off-site and brought in ready to serve.

    If alcoholic beverages are present, renters are responsible for ensuring all activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, including any guidelines established by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). Solstice Studio does not provide, sell, serve, or permit the sale of alcohol on-site.

    Guests are responsible for cleaning up all food, beverages, and trash before the end of their reservation.

  • Yes! Cake smash sessions are welcome. We simply ask that you clean up after yourself, and please keep in mind that setup and cleanup time are included in your reserved rental time. Please plan accordingly to ensure the studio is left clean before your booking ends.

  • The studio receives natural light throughout the day. Light quality and direction vary by season, weather conditions, and time of day, creating different looks throughout the year. This is one of the things we love most about the space.

  • Yes. The studio may be used for workshops, styled shoots, content days, networking events, and other small gatherings that remain within occupancy limits.

  • At this time, the studio includes natural light and basic amenities. Additional equipment and rental options may be available in the future.

  • At this time, we do not offer studio tours outside of an active reservation.

    We strive to provide detailed photos, videos, measurements, and studio information so you can confidently book the space. If you have any questions before reserving, please don't hesitate to reach out.

  • Reservations may be rescheduled with 24 hour notice. Please refer to our rental agreement for full cancellation and rescheduling policies.

  • Please plan to arrive at your scheduled start time. Because reservations are often booked back-to-back, early access cannot be guaranteed.

  • Yes. Complimentary parking is available for all studio guests.

  • Yes, complimentary WiFi is included with every reservation.

  • Glitter, smoke bombs, sparklers, candles, and other open flames are not permitted.

    Confetti may be allowed with prior written approval from Solstice Studio. If you'd like to use confetti during your session, please contact us in advance for approval.

  • Solstice Studio is ideal for:

  • Freestanding decorations are welcome. To protect the space, nails, screws, staples, glitter, confetti (unless with prior approval), smoke bombs, sparklers, candles, and open flames are not permitted.

  • Additional time will be billed based on current studio rates, subject to availability. Because reservations are often scheduled back-to-back, extensions cannot be guaranteed.
